Soon, we had more milk than one family could drink. One day a dear friend, who also has goats, taught me how to make soap. This soap making process was the same process my grandmother used.
My grandmothers and mother must have been yelling from heaven to get me to hear them, because I did. I started making soap for our family. I made so much soap, we took it to the local Farmer's Market to sell. From that one day, everything has grown. Our family business was born.
To honor my ancestors, I named our business and home after 5 generations of women in our family—the common name being Electra. The current Electra is my grand daughter. So, Electra's Acres was born (again).
All of our products are handmade. The soap, lotions, shampoos, shaving soaps and sugar scrubs are all handmade by a member of our family.
We support as many local family businesses as possible. The pottery is made by Becky from Bashful Burro. She is a local potter. You can find her on Etsy. We make our own Tallow from the steak fat that we buy from our local butcher. Most of our labels are made from recycled paper produced by a family business. We also buy all our animal feed from our local feed store (and farmers).
You can purchase our products here in our on-line store or at various Indiana Farmer's Markets and Festivals. Contact us if you have questions or would like a special order. Welcome to our family.
